planting leeks, when?
I want to try leeks this year. I don't know enough. What and where do I plant?

Re: planting leeks, when?
Luke, growing Leeks is not much different than growing onions, except the seeds are slower germinating, and the plants grow for a much longer period of time. The seeds need to be started indoors about 10 weeks before transplanting in the garden. They need about 6" spacing between plants, and they need consistent moisture so good mulching really helps them develop nice white stems.
There was a recent article in the Old Farmer's Almanac on the subject you may want to check out:

Re: planting leeks, when?
Thanks for the reply to my post. As usual I can get information needed on SFG.
