Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for the best climbing zucchini. I grew some last year thinking all could be trained up a trellis but it didnt work and took up so much space. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

i'm very interested in this reply as well as we'll be growing squashes this year.

i did have success growing canteloupe and cucumbers last year on a trellis, though - for those, i just guided them up the trellis and rewove any plant bits that stuck out the sides. worked well and i had 4 canteloupe on one plant! (my only canteloupe plant, lol).

A few moments on Google yielded this:
http://gardening.about.com/od/vegetables/qt/Patio_Zucchini.htm

Zucchini 'Black Forest' F1 Hybrid is not a miniature plant by any means. However unlike most zucchini plants, it doesn’t bush out at the base, so it can easily be contained in a large pot (at least 24") and trained up a stake or trellis. ‘Black Forest’ actually does better in containers than in the garden, because it favors a very rich, well-drained soil and that can be better controlled in a container.

Here's another one from my "climbing zucchini" search on Google.
http://gardenerschoice.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=74

ZOOMING ZUCCHINI Bushels of fruit from just a 6-inch patch in your garden! Its the jack-in-the-beanstalk of the vegetable world... as many as 5 times more zucchinis in less than 1/20th the space! Heroes a food-lover's dream-plant come true. This Chinese climbing wonder-variety rockets up a pole, a fence, the side of your house or garage _ and from a tiny handkerchief size patch of earth, loads itself down top to bottom with bumper crops of zucchini in spring, summer and fall... smack up to frost, starting in just 60 days!
