Beeeeautiful!! And, not what I'd call little. Started to use that type of flagstone around my boxes, but finally have settled for red rubber mulch (recycled rubber).

Rubber Squares
Thanks!! We didn't actually use flagstone--we found these super cool recycled rubber tire squares at Home Depot. They are great to kneel on--kind of like the rubber mulch!

Indeed!!! We have six kids and they lOVE to bounce! We have a fairly small yard but my husband made the most of it by completely leveling it and building a large deck. On the other side we have an outdoor "patio" area, small basketball court and even have some yard in the middle for games and the puppy to run around.

I thought that's what they were. I came really close to getting them, but unfortunately finances weren't available to go that route. They really look good! Maybe in the future.

Re: 1st Little SFG----Yay!!!
I definitely agree--they are a little pricey. I am afraid I didn't really price everything out as I should have and spent a "little" more than I had planned. So much for "saving" money by growing my own veggies. Oh well--this was my summer to get my yard back. It's been torn up forever! Can you tell I'm a little excited? Plus--it's all going to taste sooooo good!

Did you buy your boxes from the website?
I like your boxes. Much nicer than my 2x6"s Did you order them online here? Also I hadnt decided what to put around my boxes. Right now its just the black weed cloth. I didnt want grass there since i have the whole thing fenced in so i cant get the mower in and hubby has a tendancy to weed wack the veggies in our old row garden and i didnt want him to do that here to my sfg. So I laid down the weed cloth to the size of the area to be fenced. I may "borrow" your rubber paver idea.

1st Little SFG----Yay!!!
Welcome to the forum, Moxie! We're so glad to have you join us. And what a first impression you made! I love your garden. It has a very sculptural look, with the stone water feature behind it and even the tomato stakes lend another sculptural element. Very nice looking.
I look forward to more posts from you, updating us on how your garden grows! Don't hesitate to post questions, concerns, problems, successes. The folks on here just love to help and love to see what others are doing in their gardens.
Again, welcome, and I hope to see you around the forum often!

Re: 1st Little SFG----Yay!!!
Thanks again for the warm welcome. My DH actually built the boxes himself using a "composite decking" material that matches our new deck and should be very durable. I am very lucky to have a VERY handy husband! Happy Fathers Day Babe--and to all the other great Dad's out there!

Curly Climbing Rods
What are those curly climbing rods?
Are they homemade out of something else or did you get them somewhere. Everything I see around is so clunky and those look like they make nice additions for climbing plants.

Those are "tomato" stakes that we bought at IFA although we've used them to stake everything. They come in three different sizes and are coated in plastic so I'm hoping they will last a while. I thought they were somewhat attractive and I like that you can stake each square individually as you like it.

I've seen the tomato spirals before. What keeps them from falling over when the plant grows tall? I really like the look. Might try them in the future. Let us know how they work out.
