What are you eating from your garden today? - Page 20 Img_1510Momma (Yolos) planted these the day she left for surgery and the boys and I just started eating on them this week.  We miss her so but the garden has helped us stay close to her.  I will say this . . . the weeds are awful here in GA.  I don't think the winter was cold enough this year to kill them Smile

Just made Pesto Tortellini Salad with my frozen pesto from last year in it—so yummy and easy!

I need to use or give away some of that frozen pesto from last year, because this year’s basil and scapes are happening!

Underneath the pseudo-sausage you can see the spiralized zucchinni spaghetti. I think spiralized zucchini is actually better than spaghetti squash, which so often turns to mush.

Post  OhioGardener 8/25/2023, 5:37 pm

A friend gave me 3 Julafuego Peppers, which I turned into poppers. The Fuego Jalapeno Pepper is a hybrid Jalapeno that is bred to be twice as hot as a regular Jalapeno. They made some great poppers! Only 12 minutes in the air fryer.   I may have to grow some of them next year.

A little warmer than a regular Jalapeno, but not too hot to comfortably to eat with the cheese stuffing.  It has a Scoville heat unit rating of 4,000 - 6,000, whereas a regular Jalapeno has a SHU rating of 2,500 - 5,000. So, it is mid-range heat.  One of the nice thing about them is that they are larger, about 4" to 5" long, and have a thicker flesh.

My jalapeño peppers are always way hotter than the Scoville scale—same with my Ancho (Poblano) peppers.  I wonder why that is?

Hot, dry weather causes the peppers to get hotter. My Jalapenos are the mildest this year that they have ever been because of the non-stop rains.
