No worries though, it's only supposed to be a tropical storm by the time it shows up - gusts 40 - 60 mph.  The Cape eats winds like that for breakfast.

Woops...almost forgot the delicatas:New England September 2017 - Page 2 00214

I left more delicatas and all the cukes & tromboncinos in the garden as they are so skinny and/or small still.  I'm hoping they'll go crazy with the Jose charged 3" of rain we are expecting.
What a Face
CC, what a beautiful harvest! I especially love that chubby carrot. Very Happy I hope you got some rain from Jose, if you needed it. I was hoping for a good soaking, because things are a bit crispy here, but all we got was a shower. Glad you didn't get hit hard up there on the Cape.

Dang, girl!  Look at you and your squashes!!!!  And what are those mammoth carrots?  Danvers?  Nice haul, good for you!

Thanks! Danvers 126 comes to mind, if there is such a thing.

HG, not much rain here from Jose yet - about 1/2 inch - but the winds are a-howling. Since this is a multiple day event I'm hoping for more rain. These winds will certainly dry everything out, and are twisting one of my Mel's trellises, but it's the one in the tromboncino garden and not in a box. The large tom plants are on the ground but they were never properly trellised. All the other trellises are standing tall with their perspective veggies hanging on for dear life, and the netting on the leafy greens box is blowing loose.  I took photos but can't get them off the camera.  Rolling Eyes

Yesterday was our first sunny, windless day in a while. sunny  Everyone was out doing clean up.  We ended up with 3" of rain over the course of 4 very windy days.  My poor garden is a mess and all the cherry tomatoes are cracked wide open.  The delicatas and zukes are toast.  One of my Mel's trellises broke at one conduit intersection.

Oh...and I sat on a bee.  Yup, he stung my butt.
affraid
Stuck a piece of sliced onion on that puppy so fast and the pain was gone shortly there after.  Still a red spot but it's not bothersome.  And here I thought that this was the year that I was going to get away without a bee sting. Rolling Eyes

I'm sorry for your pain, CC, but the thought of you putting a slice of onion on your butt . . .  Stifling a giggle.

Laughing

Vegnotes:

I found the article on Black Rot interesting as I've seen markings on tromboncino and cukes like the ones in the butternut photo.  But I've been eating them anyway.  There  doesn't appear to be any rot inside the veggies so maybe it's not the same thing.
idk

Temps heading back into the 50's & 60's for us for a while.
