August? YIKES! Gotta think up a new avatar. I'll grab my camera and head out before it gets too hot.

Migosh, Scorpio, I've actually had 4 cukes and 3 tomatoes. There's a zuke out there ready to pick, too. I guess I shouldn't complain anymore about my pitiful results.

I did have my first Sakatas Sweet melon Saturday, and it was delicious!  I do love those melons, prolific and sweet!

SR ... My Sakatas Sweet Melon plant (from the seeds you sent me) is still quite small and no sign of fruit. I doubt that I'll see any fruit this year. The plant from the larger seeds that you sent me has one melon on it but it's only about the size of a baseball. I'm hoping the critters don't get at it before I get a chance to taste it.

beautiful carrots picked a bit earlier...just not as good as last year...I do these in 12" deep boxes.

earlier harvest...first of the english cukes, pickling cukes, dill, and early roma-type tomatoes.

king arthur peppers and health kick tomatoes

tomaotes (carbon, krim, kosovo, health kick, beefsteak)...weird, very little cracking/ splitting this year even with all the rain.

apex of picking...everything ready this right before the rainstorm...making bunches of tahini salad (diced cukes and tomatos), BLT's, cucumber and onion salad (vineger and cream versions), raita (shredded cukes in plain yogurt), pickled beets, curried veggies, pad thai, etc.

Yeah, I have 2 jalapeño plants and cannot believe how many peppers those things produce!  I looked up a recipe for quick pickled jalapeños and I think I am going to do that this weekend!  It is a cold pack no canning.  I have maters too, but like you the slicers just came on.  

I just do not like kale......it grows like crazy....
