Anyone Grow Passionflower from Seed?
I have tried before and failed, but I would love to have some potted up for the frits next year. I have several seed pods from cuttings I got from the nursery to feed my starving caterpillars. I know it's an ordeal, but I really want to try again. Any helpful hints?
Re: Anyone Grow Passionflower from Seed?
No advice, but funny you should mention this...
A few weeks ago I purchased a bag of over-ripe passionfruit at the supermarket, intending to save and plant the seeds. Then I discovered that the vines need a much longer growing season than my climate can accommodate, and I thought of sending the seeds to you, to try for your butterfly garden.
The fruits were unknown variety - yellow, with a bit of purple blush - probably a hybrid....but the seeds are free, if you want them. Let me know.

Re: Anyone Grow Passionflower from Seed?
Thank you for the nice offer, but I have lots of seeds already. I'm thinking I should probably focus on layering, anyway. Our vines are already stripped from the caterpillars, and this is the right time of year. I've never had success rooting any kind of cuttings and I've already failed twice at growing from seed. I guess I just answered my own question. Duh!Ginger Blue wrote:No advice, but funny you should mention this...
