Cut off my garlic scapes and. tossed them cut up in my cucumber bed.
Even though I have netting around cukes I am hoping this may be somewhat of a deterrent for those cucumber beetles. garlic scapes as deterrent June1416

Great minds think alike, Jimmy. I just chopped & tossed last years garlic leaves onto my squash bed hoping to deter the SVB. I'm pretty sure it won't but it's an experiment...and you know how we LOVE experimenting!

I put some of this years chopped garlic leaves and stems in with the just sprouted cukes. Came back and one leaf was eaten off a few of them. So it doesn't deter pill bugs.

Garlic scapes are a special, once a year treat for eating only in my house.

Hey Camp, I know we have a recipe thread here somewhere, but what do you do with the scapes? A long time ago I used to make a pesto out of them, but lost the recipe.
