Hey everybody, I was a busy boy today. I knew the rain was coming in the afternoon, so I planned for it like it was coming at noon, it started raining at about 11:50! I wasn't quite finished, but it did feel good to be out working, the rain didn't bother me.

I wanted to get some compost into one of my beds, so I figured I'd show the tools I use. I have a grub hoe or adze hoe which is a fantastic tool, which makes digging VERY easy, this link has a pic.

The blade on mine is a tad bit shorter, and just a little wider. It takes the work out of digging or breaking up ice mounds around the mailbox in the winter.

I dig into the black ground which is compacted well and break it up with the grub hoe. Then it gets shoveled into the sifter I made out of wood and half inch hardware cloth. It is easy to sift it into the cart, which I have had since 1994. Now I can take it where I want easily, my gardens are spread out over a large area. Here are some pics.

In another project to have more garden space I cleared some growth. I found I had uncovered a good amount of leaves and such, so I made a new compost bin next to that garden. Here is a pic to show it.

I now have 10 compost bins spread out, sounds like a bit much, but it works for me. If I only had a tractor Rolling Eyes

Here's the screen I made a few weeks ago. It sits on top of a standard wheelbarrow.
