sanderson wrote:SR, I have a bed 4' x 2.5' so there are 4 half squares plus 8 real squares. I plant the half squares with space appropriate plants. So you can count those remnant squares towards total sq ft.
That's what I did. Two halfsies equaled a whole.

Re: Poll: How Many Squares Do You Have?
110 squares, but 16 of those (one 4'x4') are dedicated to strawberries, so only about 94 to work with for Vegs.

I will admit, tomatoes are the reason I started gardening. They are a COMPLETELY different thing that is available at the grocery. Just completely. A BLT in summer is blissssssss

My wife would agree with you. She loves to eat them when the tomato is still warm from the sun with a little mayo and some salt & pepper

Re: Poll: How Many Squares Do You Have?
We've got 80 squares - 5 4x4 boxes. In the boxes, I grow mostly lettuce, cabbage, onions, carrots, cucumbers, basil, and squashes. This year, I'm working in a couple tomato and a few pepper plants. (I mostly grow tomatoes and peppers in my self-watering patio containers.)

Re: Poll: How Many Squares Do You Have?
I've got 96 squares. Top 5 veggies:
1. Tomatoes
2. Peppers
3. Cucumbers
4. Eggplants
5. Greens (lettuce, kale, arugula, etc)
I also have a separate (non SFG) patch for my herbs, and am already planning a major move for my garden next year. I want more squares, and have no more room for expansion in the current location, so next year the whole operation is moving to another part of the yard. I know myself too well - if I expanded to another area and kept some in the current location, one area or the other would not get the attention it deserves. So the whole thing must be moved, even if it makes me sweat to just think about it!!!

I have 2 4x4 boxes; so 32 squares. The garlic is in a patch of its own and tomatoes are grown in ground. Herbs are scattered in different places.
Top veggies: salad and other greens, carrots, radishes, tomatoes and peppers.

80 Squares
I have one 4 x 20 bed. - 80 Squares.
I grow tomatoes in 7 gallon grow bags. I line up 2 rows of 6 and do the Florida weave thing.
I also have strawberries in random pots that I purchase at yard sales.
I just made 7 - 3' cedar window boxes that I will sit on top of my deck railings for herbs and beneficial insect-attracting annuals.
At my in-laws house I maintain a 4 x 15 bed and 6 tomato plants in a non-sfg bed.
Top veggies -
1. Amish Paste tomatoes
2. Snap peas
3. Serrano, cayenne, ghost peppers that I dry to make pepper flakes.
4. Green beans, bush and pole
5. ONIONS! Every kind I can get my hands on. So tasty when home grown

Re: Poll: How Many Squares Do You Have?
I have 5 3x8 beds = 54 squares. 18 of those a strawberry bed that is now overrun with weeds and I have to decide what to do with it - so 36 for other veggies. Definitely want more.
Top are tomatoes, snow peas, garlic, lettuce and beans.....
and herbs (basil, parsley, chives, sage, dill and adding oregano this year), but those aren't in my SFG beds.
