Garden Songs
A lot of you are already planting up a storm. But some, like me, are chomping at the bit while watching our boxes emerge from the snow. Sooooo...to lighten the mood a bit I thought it would be fun to have a thread of Garden Songs.

Re: Garden Songs
I sing that one every year in spring. Besides, we've been thru the songs before on the forum but it wasn't entitled 'songs', so I thought I would be nice to be able to bump it every spring & maybe find some new ones.
Here's another favorite that I think of as a garden song since it mentions the bees & other critters:

Tree Planting Song
Every year when spring was just around the corner, Dad would announce it was time to plant trees. Living on a large farm where there was plenty of room to plant, meant planting trees in all sort of out of the way places. This also involved a lot of work, many holes to be dug by hand, dragging along water hoses, and digging ditches to channel the water to reach the trees. Here is a song my sister made up about planting trees. It is sung to the tune of "Lets Go Fly A Kite" from the Walt Disney movie Merry Popins.
LET'S GO PLANT A TREE,
ONE, TWO, OR FIFTY-THREE.
OUT WHERE THE SUN WILL SHINE,
FAR FROM THE WATER LINE.
LET'S GO......PLANT A TREE!
I added another verse:
LET'S GO PLANT A TREE,
NOT JUST FOR YOU AND ME,
BUT FOR EVERY- ONE,
LONG AFTER WE ARE GONE.
LET'S GO PLANT A TREE!
Yep, I carry on the tradition. Every spring I (with help from the kids of course) plant 30, 40, or 53 new trees, and sing this song as we merrily work along. Hopefully the kids will pass this tradition along to their children!

MY FOOD IS MADE FROM SUNSHINE
The whole album is cute but this is my favorite.
My Food Is Made From Sunshine
Written by: Jay Mankita
The sun shines down without a sound
Feeds the plants growing on the ground
Helps them grow in every way
My food is made from sunshine
I got energy to work and play
Helps me feel good every day
Sleep better at night when I hit the hay
My food is made from sunshine
The sun shines down upon my fruits and veggies, grains and beans, fills my life with sunshine through my berries, seeds, and green, the colors in my food seem brighter every time I dine, when I remember that my food is made from sunshine
Vitamin's, minerals, every day
A little bit goes a long, long way
Phyto-nutrients on my tray
food is made from sunshine
Healthy, flexible, skin and bone
Strong, athletic, muscle tone
A happy heart and an open mind
My food is made from sunshine
from Eat Like A Rainbow, released 03 March 2007

Thanks for this thread - you made me think about the song I just posted. I'm going to add it to Mel's FB page - he'll love it.

True love and homegrown tomatoes! Love it! Somehow the voice and the picture of the artist don’t jive for me, lol!

Re: Garden Songs
I am playing a banjo now for a number of years, both in bluegrass style along with old time mountain music.
I have sat in my garden often at my last residence. Didnt matter which style of playing or what the type of music was being played... It would be relatively quiet when I started, however in a very short time I had many birds gathered around me singing their hearts out. or maybe telling me to get out...LOL...The male cardinal seemed to be the loudest and most consistent visitor. One of my favorite memories...........Our favorite to play was an old mountain tune named "Bile Dem Cabbage Down Down"
