how does one know when a spaghetti squash is ready to pick off the vine......???

They either turn yellow on the vine or if your season is short, pick them before ff and keep them in a cool room and they should ripen slowly on their own.

they are several shades of yellow........vines are old looking........dont want any to rot.......somewhere my daughter read that the stem gave the clue......they are so huge storage space would be a problem......

The stem will turn tan/brown and dry out.

As to picking early, I had one fall of the vine quite early and unripe last year. It was quite immature, but I left it out in the sun for a while then brought it in and let it finish ripening in the house. It did and tasted just fine!
