How does this plan look and some questions

Hello! I am starting to plan my veggie bed this year and wanted some thoughts on it.

This is what I am thinking so far:

A few questions that I have are:

1. Is it okay to plant the Cilantro and Basil in the spaces that I have them in? I have never grown herbs and wasn't sure if there were any rules about where to plant them.

2. Is there one tomato variety that will work for making salsa and using as a slicing tomato or will I need a variety for each? What are the best varieties to use? I have read that Celebrity and Amelia are good for salsa, but not sure about slicing.

3. How many bean plants are recommended for a family of 4? I am planning on doing the bush variety.

Anyway, thanks for the help! Looking forward to my 2nd year of planting!!

Edited to add... The Cilantro and Basil are under my Tomatoes. Not sure what I am going to plant in the other spaces. If more bean plants are recommended, I will move the Cucumbers over next to the Tomatoes and add them next to the current beans.

Hi Kmarie. Can't give you any advice on the beans, but I know basil & tomatoes like each other. I believe cilantro likes them as well.

Looks good from what I see, but I'm pretty new too...

Kmarie, Are you going to have a trellis along the long side for the tomatoes and cucumbers? Here's my measly 2 cents. 4 squares for bush beans, Dragon Tongue are my favorite because of their color.

Back row, right to left: I would use 4 squares for the 3 tomatoes, giving the leaves a little more room. Square 5 for basil. Square 6 for 2 cucumbers. #7 & 8 for Bush beans.

Front row, right to left: 3 peppers in 3 squares in front of the tomatoes. Space # 4 can be for cilantro. # 7 & 8 for bush beans. #5 & 6 are left for carrots, radishes, summer leaf lettuce, beets, turnips, etc. What ever you want.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will be using a tomato cage for my tomatoes and cucumbers. The Dragon Tongue beans look interesting. I will give them a try!
