severe weather - life in the midwest
beautiful weather yesterday as my garden helper and I planted some radish, spinach, carrot, and beet seeds (from the looks of the dress, she either had a wedding party or formal ball to attend after getting dirty in the garden).
Today, tornado warnings, severe thunder storms with large hail forecasted. My SFG boxes look a little red-neck as I've used everything I can find for protection (cement board, coolers, milk crates, tulip bulb crates, screens, boards, cattle mineral tubs, etc.). This may work for hail...but heavy winds or a tornado may allow someone in in the next state to enjoy my garden this year.

I didn't even cover anything up. Quarter sized hail got a couple tomaters and snap dragons this morning; their the only things that I have that are big enough to have suffered, and I have backups of those growing in the basement. Bet we get another round later this afternoon. Not looking forward to that!

As long as y'all and your families are okay, everything else is frosting on the cake!
