Its too bad there aren't "Like" buttons on this forum! You are totally awesome for getting out and getting 'er done. I think you will be gardening and getting 'er done way in the future too with your great attitude. The winter has been long and hard, and we can all use some spring time now.  bounce
Hey Cherbear:
I hope you don't feel that we are getting at you for suggesting the above.  I gave my opinion and I did not know how strongly others felt on this board.  BIG hug

That's alright. I didn't realize what a touchy topic it was. I'm just used to facebook I guess. Anyhow, I am usually pretty shy and feel that I have a hard time typing what I want to say for fear of not saying what I mean. Uh, as you can see from this rambling post. I'm not suggesting we have like buttons, it was just a way of expressing that I really liked what you had to say and that I admired you greatly for being so active. My mom is 74 and will be 75 this year and is mostly housebound due to osteoporosis.  Sad

Cherbear, we understand.  As I've said elsewhere, the nice thing about this forum is that everybody wants everybody else to succeed & have fun!  We're all for each other.  That's really unusual in this day and age.

It's all right. Don't take what I said too seriously, either. Everybody has opinions, and you are as entitled to yours as anyone else is.

Boffer, do we still have the active 90 YO member?  One year we had a forum vote on ages and we ran from 16 (Josh) to 90ish.

Somedays I just feel like 90 is that any good?

I had a good idea that this sort of thing went on, and I think it sickens me that all this effort is lavished on one human being when it could be spread around and make peoples' lives better even in some small way. Mad
Even if nothing was left behind, Plantoid, at least the place was cleaned up. Smile
It was interesting hear a first-hand account of something like this.

Quote:
HM. QE. arrived at 11.30 hrs. the next day .. every plant bar a few was now in magnificent bloom . She came & went , within hours of her leaving teams came in and shovelled everything into a convoy of dumpsters , then a deep cleaning team came in to scrub & disinfect the main entrance & hall way.  Unquote

Did they think Her Majesty left a few germs behind?
If they shovelled everthing in dumpsters, were they going to dump the stuff?

It all went to the local land fill site , will have been capped over with 6 feet of blue clay and as it degrades the methane gasses are taken off and burnt  to provide heat for a green house project or if it is high summer & the heat is not needed the gas is just burnt off into the atmosphere via a fire/flame stack .

Plantoid, I feel even more disgusted, but I will not upset myself about something that happened in the last century.  But I am sure it happens even now with royalty and other "important people".

I don't mind a bit of cleaning up and painting and a few flowers that can remain in situ or be  given to hospital patients etc.  After all, most of us clean house when we expect visitors. Mad

Inferiority Complex - Page 3 Empty Re: Inferiority Complex

It happens in ordinary life all the time. I remember long-standing complaints about the condition of public buses -- torn seats; broken windows that wouldn't open paired with air conditioners that didn't work, creating not just hot but suffocating conditions; general filthiness and smelliness -- maintenance being perpetually ignored until finally there was a resolution to do something about the poor condition of the public buses.

They were given a paint job. On the outside. So people who weren't riding the buses and didn't have to ride buses would feel better about buses. Inside, business as usual.

I saw the same scenario unfold in both Hawaii and Los Angeles when I lived in those places.
