Remote read thermometers
Does anyone know or have experience with a remote read thermometer that works? I have bought three this year and they all work about a week before failing. The current one works from 40 to eighty degrees and then quits. This morning we had light snow and eight degrees outside. I went to look at my green house thermometer and is was blinking and read 41 degrees. I went out and looked inside and the one there read 22 degrees. My plants are double covered. Just about an hour ago I looked at my thermometer and it's all happy and reading 46 degrees. I don't need something that just works in the comfort zone.

I've been using this model for 1½ years with no problems.

Re: Remote read thermometers
Thanks. I just ordered it. Maybe I can make a wind chime out of the other three.

+1 on the LaCrosse unit. We've had one in service for several years. Be sure to protect the sending unit from getting wet especially if it is subjected to freezing.
I bought a LaCrosse remote rain gauge and received it last week. I haven't yet fixed a place to set it up. I plan to mount it on one end of my 4x10 TT bed.

The sending unit will be inside the greenhouse so it should stay dry. Thanks for the endorsements.

Just a note on keeping the outdoor unit protected from moisture in winter - you can seal it in a "seal-a-meal" vacuum bag without using the vacuum. Works great, doesn't affect the temperature reading and lasts all winter.

Thanks, been doing this for two years. I just remove the plastic in the summer so it doesn't warm up too much.
