Re: companion planting potatoes with corn??
Turan..... Im not sure how we will grind it as we have never ground corn before
did you say its great to use is soup or stew?.....because that would be ok for us we love corn in our soups and stew does the Painted Mountain corn hold to its colors when cooked?
Nonna.....from what I read Painted Mountain corn only takes about 70 days to mature but about 90 days to get it to a dry corn....
GG..... it will fun to grow this corn together
hugs

But is Painted Mountain and Painted Hills the same corn? Or is Mountain more for drying and Hills for fresh eating, or.....? Nonna

I think the colors cooked out. Or were overwhelmed by the stew general browns
You might find the hominy easier for digestion.
Looks like Indian Hills is a cross. From Victor seeds blurb
Ok so I gotta try this too. 16 sq of each and if they cross back again I won't be upset.

="' This is a very interesting open-pollinated, sweet corn variety developed for cooler and shorter growing seasons. Each ear is about seven inches in length and filled with multicolored, flavorful kernels on stalks that are five to six feet in height.
Painted Hill' was bred by Dr. Alan Kapuler of Peace Seeds who stabilized a cross between Dave Christianson's genetically diverse 'Painted Mountain' flour corn and the old heirloom, 'Luther Hill' sweet corn.

Turan - Thanks for the link on making Hominy. I bookmarked it!
Rose - Giving corn one more try, we will have to keep each other updated on our progress and success/failure!
