Those zukes are pretty huge, carguy. How long were they? Are they from the same plant?

Yes both from same plant, smaller one measured about 8 inches, bigger one 9 1/2 inches. Sliced smaller one and cooked on the grill last night...very tasty!!CapeCoddess wrote:Those zukes are pretty huge, carguy. How long were they? Are they from the same plant?

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Roasted veggies - butternut squash, yellow squash, lemon squash, Chinese Red Noodle beans, bells, "petite" red onions, garlic, cayenne pepper (too hot for a repeat performance), plus store tomatoes, sweet and red potatoes.
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Green beans, lettuce, kale, swiss chard, cucumbers and a few blueberries. Last night's dinner was a big salad, green beans with butter and parmesan cheese, steamed greens and buttered noodles. It was soooo yummy.
Very envious of the corn yolos! And BUTTER is our friend!!!!!!! :DIt is so good with all the fresh veggies from the garden.

Just went out to see how the Yukon Gold potatoes are doing. This is the beginning and the plants have not died back completely. First pound and 1/2 for July, 2014. These will become tonights side dish of new potatoes with garlic and herbs.

Last night's dinner included baked zucchini slices, salad greens, radish and carrots all from the garden. Also made 2 batches of pesto and have a big pile of basil drying.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Those in the photo are Globe radish (I think that's what they're called). My daikon pods are almost past. Daikon pods are delish also, but hotter than the regular radish pods I thought.Marc Iverson wrote:CC -- cool, I've come to like radish pods too. I'd never heard of them until a little while ago. It's funny, it seems that the heat factor is affected by so many different things - age of pod, temp, watering & who knows what else. The only thing I'm sure about is if you can't squeeze them then they are yummy. Once squeeze-ability commences then they are too far gone and it's time to get ready to collect seeds.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Well, I love how easy radishes make it to do that!
I'm not very experienced at radishes, but when I grew them a long time ago, it seemed to me that poor soil, too much heat, or too little water all made them hotter. Hot was easy for me; mild wasn't.

First time this season there was enough ready to fill a roasting pan w/veggies last night, rattlesnake beans, beets, and Yukon g. Potatoes, caramelized onions, to go with baked chicken parmesan. We enjoyed this as much as a special holiday type meal.

Waiting on those tomatoes
Hi! So far, I have been munching on lettuces: arugula, black-seeded simpson, mesculun mix, and romaine. Had my first zucchini yesterday and a few yellow pear-shaped tomatoes from a patio pot. Also, a few strawberries. Got a late start this year because of the weather. The mid-Atlantic states actually had a bit of snow in April. Never got my peas and spinach for that reason. Plan on doing fall crops for them, along with cabbage and kale.

Green beans, new potatoes, garlic and onions, chard, lettuce, dill, kale and shallots. Now if the girls would cap off the honey I would be ecstatic.
