Since we will be canning some dilly beans this evening, I decided to go ahead and harvest my carrots that I planted the 1st part of March and make some dilly carrots at the same time.  2 varieties and an assortment of sizing, perfect for cutting up or leaving the smaller ones whole for the purpose.  Grown in a top hat designed by Mel in his book for the SFG.

These are not the color variety I planted April 15, they still need more time in the ground.

Those look very nice and yummy.   I put mine in a 8" deep box without a top hat and they mostly stuck in the hardware cloth at the bottom.  They were ok but nothing picture worthy.  Also it may be just my boxes but I find the orange varieties seem more vigorous than the rainbow colors.

Geesh, you have turned into a canning machine Carrot harvest 3170584802  that's awesome!!  Your carrots look great!  I didn't get any carrots to germinate this year but last year I had colored ones as well and they grew all summer and still turned out lousy and tiny, but I think it had more to do with the deer that kept eating off the tops as they grew than anything else!  Have fun!
