Grubs and grub predators
I'm having a problem with grubs in my yard, SFG and flower beds.
The grubs themselves don't seem to be a problem, they aren't so numerous as to be causing lawn die-off or killing my plants.
The skunk, raccoon or opossum that is hunting them on a regularly basis is leaving 6 inch holes all over the place.
I figure I have two choices, since letting the destruction continue isn't one of them. :-)
I can trap whatever it is doing the digging and relocate it. Provided it's not a skunk, no big deal. Just I have to worry about it being replaced by another animal and repeating.
The 2nd option is to kill the grubs. Numerous pest and animal control people told me kill the grubs they stop digging in a day. Unfortunately, their suggestions all amounted to go to the big box store and pick up a jug of the big brand grub killer. I'm assuming it'll kill far more than grubs and really don't want to destroy the little biosphere I'm trying to keep going.
What are people's success rates with relocating or is there a more friendly OG grub deterrent that will work?

Regarding grub control, I think first and foremost the thing that is needed is a positive ID of what type of creature you are trying to kill. All grubs are not the same, some will be controlled by one element while another grub is totally unaffected.
Do you know what kind of grubs you have?
Are you using fencing?

Not anything more than your standard, white beetle grub.
Can't really fence, I already have a perimeter fence, not practical to fence the landscaping.
