Is this a grub egg in my lawn ?
My lawn has gotten so bumpy and irregular it's a pain to cut grass any more.
I dug up about 3 inches of a spot and here is what I found about 2 inches deep....could this round white thingamajig be a grub egg ?
There were quite a few in the area..
I pinched one and it spurted out a clear liquid.

Re: Is this a grub egg in my lawn ?
Jimmy, where are you "at" with Japanese or Oriental beetles in your area? Have they emerged yet? If they haven't, it's unlikely to be one of their eggs, though it might be some other type of beetle's eggs. The grubs are one of the last stages of a beetle's life cycle before they emerge from the ground, so if you think it's a beetle egg, you'd have to figure out what beetles have had time to mate & lay eggs. It's hard to tell from the picture, but you could probably do some research & compare the pics to what you have & see if they match. Good luck.

Problem is, unless I don't know what a beetle looks like I haven't seen any in years.

You haven't seen any beetles in your garden in years? Then chances are, it's not a "grub egg" being as a grubs found under lawns are typically immature beetles, and they don't lay eggs until they surface as mature beetles.
Can't help you any further than that except to go back to my earlier suggestion and see if you can find any pictures online that look like what you've got.

Sanderson
Their not in bunches, single eggs that are distributed around under the grass roots.
I'm going to do some more digging today.
I just can't stand cutting my grass any more, even though I am maturing in age the lawn mower feels like a tank going over hill and dale.
I've seen squirrels digging in the yard, and lots of deer all year long especially when the soil is wet and soft.
I'm attributing these bumps and depressions to deer roaming around the yard at night.
I do have pear and apples trees that they like..
We also have skunks, racoons, all that stuff.
I'll get to some digging

Jimmy,
I'm also in Zone 5-6, and we get freeze/thaw cycles that cause the ground to heave, leaving such hills and valleys. I suspect that's your problem.
I risk spraining an ankle every time I walk in the back yard! fortunately, I had the front yard redone last summer, so it's not bad--yet.

Jimmy, did you happen to put fertilizer on your lawn recently?
