Buying Mel's Mix
Hey everyone... I know that Veteran's Compost is one of the places recommended to get compost. I was on their site recently and see that they are making Mel's Mix and sell it by the bag and in bulk (which would be awesome for me because we could just go get a truck load)... Has anyone used their mix? I am just making sure it is good quality. Are there at least 5 different types of compost in it? I was reading about the compost and it said wood chips and food scraps. Can anyone weigh in on this? Thanks in advance!

Re: Buying Mel's Mix
The mix used by veterans compost is very good. Kim and I have been to his site and inspected the compost and Mel's Mix. Justen is very good about what goes into his compost. It is a blended compost. I have used it now for two years.
I help veterans compost as a delivery site for the west side of the Baltimore area.(Howard, Baltimore Co., Carroll, Frederick counties)
I also sell the same Mel's Mix and compost at www.sfgofmd.com

Bakermtd,
I checked out your website...do you guys bleep your blended compost to FL? I put a few bags in my cart, put in my zip code, and hit check out and it proceeded and said shipping costs were $0.00...That can't be right?

I also sell the Compost & Mix from Veteran Compost but don't ship. It's just SO prohibitively expensive. Each 1 cf bag is 20-25 lbs and one would need 9 bags to fill a 4x4x6" box.
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
