Better than winning the lottery....
...... well almost!
We live in an old historic house smack dab in the middle of a small town and directly across from City Hall. Every year they hold a big event for the lighting of the tree. This event includes a good size manger scene in witch they bring in many animals from a local petting farm. I remember camels, sheep, donkeys chickens and the like from past years. They have spent the last 2 days preparing and decorating for this event.
When I saw the trailers coming in bringing the animals this morning, I ran out to one of the drivers and asked what they did with all the animal poop. He said they keep it collected while they are here and then take it home and just spread it in the pasture for lack of anything better to do with it. I asked if he thought he might like to deposit it at the end of my driveway where they had their truck parked so I could use it for my compost pile. He scratched his head and asked me where my pile was and I pointed to it about 60 feet away. He then asked me why I wanted it at the end of the drive and said he would be glad to just dump it on my pile instead. Well.... I did not even have to think about that before answering. Talk about luck of the Irish (my wife is Irish ) All this and roughly 80 bags of leaves collected so far should really give me a jump on spring and dreams of adding more SFG frames.
This composting quest is really beginning to get addictive and I am starting to feel as weird as llama momma and the gang.

You'd rather receive a truckload of poo than win millions upon millions of dollars? Yeah, you're weird! LOL

Find out where the local petting farm is and you may just have an unlimited supply if you want.
But free and delivered is always good.

Who managed to collect & fit a bag of leaves in the car on Thanksgiving - a car that was already stuffed with 5 stuffed people. :fall:

Re: Better than winning the lottery....
I think growing our veggies is very cool of course, but the composting end of things is about as crazy as one wants to get. We are not weird, hah! Making gold out of garbage is pretty cool in my demented mind. I just spent hours building another compost heap of llama poop, leaves, pumpkins, straw and hay, chopped corn stalks, coffee grounds, dried grass, and grape pomice, grape stems, diluted urine. I am content as can be even though I'm still looking at another 88 bags of leaves to either mulch and make another bin (that would be wood pallet bin #5) or put into another corral. I measured the first corral and it is filled to the top w/about 45 bags or so. The filled corral was measured today at 6ft x 8ft x 4 ft tall. It's fun but I will be so happy when this is finished! We are not weird!

Oh Bob I am so envious, delivered and dumped poo where you need it!
Momma you are cooking on getting your compost piles built! Ha ha, get it "cooking"! Amazing on your leaf bin! I was out combining a small compost pile with my large compost pile and it went a lot quicker than building one from scratch but was a lot more goopy (new word) and stinky.
Linda, well done on collecting and cramming your bag of leaves! That's the way to do it!
