Rogue Tomato sucker

I've been diligent in the pinching of suckers on my indeterminants, but today as I inspected one the lowest fruit branches with its bounty coming along nicely... I noticed that unlike the others it didn't come to and end...but rather kept growing into a whole new plant, complete with tiny suckers of its own and another flower cluster!

Mutation? Cut it off? Let it be?

Actually I do not think that that is a mutant, that is how many of my heirlooms send off their suckers.
So I have been watching the end of blossoms to cut off the new plants that they send out from there
Is that an heirloom?
The ones of mine that are doing that are brandy wines and zapotec

Looks a lot like my Italiano Roman Normally I pinch off the suckers also but I have found some of them already flowering and healthier looking than the two normal branches so I have been taking out the biggest and or ugliest one of the 3. geek

That is a beautiful plant with some wonderful looking tomatoes!

Can't recall the variety off hand (I'll have to check the tag tonight). They are a smaller tomato variety. Most of the fruit clusters are single branches that come to an end, several split to double branches, there is even a tipple, but this is the only one that ended in a new stalk. Smile

Should I cut it off after the last tomato? Its just going to suck resources isn't it?

I would trim it off after the last Tom. I've never see that before though! Thanks for sharing. I'll keep my eye out for that in my toms.
