My Garden - In The Works
Creating the boxes - 4x2. Lining them with weed cloth (wire) and weed blocker.
Baby Ava helps make a batch of MM.
Boxes are down and filled, and we place the fence to protect from critters.
I grew most from seed indoors under inadequate lighting, so they didn't start off very fast when I transplanted. I bought several replacements which have done quite well. I think next year I will stick to purchasing most plants. A few plants take to production; lettuce, zuchinni/squashes.
Pole green beans take to trellis.
Several plants have some yellowing leaves. These are cucumbers.
I've had two bell peppers grow to the size of my thumb and fall off.
I believe slugs have made holes all through my cauliflower and broccoli crops.
Please, any thoughts to share???

I have a feeling it's cabbage worms eating your cauliflower/broccoli. turn the leaf over, and see if you see caterpillars/worms on the back. they are are to see, they are the same color as the leaf and can be VERY tiny until they really start grubbing on your stuff!
You can cover your plants with toule (sp?) to keep those white butterflies/moths off. they are the ones who lay the eggs that turn into the caterpillars.

oh darn it! well, you can "hand pick" off the ones you see and squish 'em ! maybe put some toule etc over the top to keep those miserable moths off?? I have about given up on cabbage family stuff, between the cabbage moths and the aphids, we don't get very much

If staying organic, pick them off and use BT. If you want to save the plants, Sevin. I just can't seem to get my collards through the summer without it.

When did you transplant your cukes? When I transplanted mine they looked like that for a couple of weeks now they have perked right up and started growing again, I think in my case it was transplant shock and might be yours with the cukes! You garden is very beautiful!

Garden looks good! You can try used coffee grounds or crushed egg shells for the slugs/snails.
The holes in the leaves of cukes look like bug damage. if you don't see any. get some soapy water in a spray bottle, spray from bottom up, including under leaves. This will bring the bugs out but, depending on what it is, it may not kill the bugs. I found squash bugs on mine, had them on the zucchini too. If you find no bugs, the soap can be rinsed off, no problem.
Kay, where do you get the BT? No one in the stores know what I'm talking about!

When Cucumber Beetles Attack!!!!
So, I've figured out whats biting holes thru all my cucumbits. These little striped devils are SOOOOOO evil! I have them on almost everything in my garden right now. I ordered an emergency order of Neem Oil and I sprayed it all over last night. I will be doing a second round tonight. It says to use daily until the numbers of these buggers drop off. So I'm hoping above hopes that I have caught these in time to save my cukes, all my many zuchinis, etc. Have I mentioned I hate these things!?!
This is one happy, and fat little cabbage worm! GRRRRR!
But on a positive note.... I have baby yellow squash growing in a few places. I'm psyched and I really hope they keep going!
Thanks all for the advice. Where is this BT stuff?

I have found different brands at a local nursery and an organic nursery in Wilmington. But the easiest is at Lowes - brand called Thuricide.
