Have been searching for information on this forum, and found lots of threads for caterpillars on herbs... I understand they provide a great habitat for some beautiful butterflies.
I don't mind loosing the above ground portion of the fennel, to provide a habitat to these guys, and will gladly move any from my parsley to the fennel, but I was hoping to get some fennel bulb this year... will the caterpillars effect the bulbs?

if you plant a few for you and a few for the caterpillars there should be enough for everyone. I usually plant extra dill for the purpose of feeding the butterfly caterpillars. I love you

a good strategy is to have a separate small garden that you grow stuff in a wild manor its a good way to get rid of excess seed that's old and dosent sprout well but still dose sprout just broadcast it into that area and leave it good for wild flowers and herbs and so on

dont sprey this area ever even weeds are welcome if you can stand it this will give habitat to good and bad bugs so when you sprey your main garden there safe and can com back to your garden when things are clear
