I had a problem with potato peels in the compost during the spring. They started growing before they would be composted. This time of year in Louisiana, they disolve in a week (the temp in the pile is about 110), but during the spring, when added to a mature compost pile, the sprouted. Other than only putting them in a fresh hot pile, any suggestions?

Do the same as I do for pernicious perennial weeds .. keep them submerged in a bucket of water for 10 days or more till the water blackens or goes greenish as they go rotten and then add the stinking slimy mess to a newly dug hole the compost heap and cover it over asap.
