How many tomato in a 4 x14 bed is too many?
I finally got my new 4 ft x 14 ft x 12 in bed finished and filled last night. I have 50 + tomato to plant, and whatever doesn't fit in the new bed will be planted along 16 foot long cattle panel in the row garden like last year. I am planting roma and cherry tomato in the new bed and use the Ultimata cages. I never trim suckers from the tomato (too lazy LOL). Am I better off doing two rows down the outside edges a wee bit closer, OR should I do to rows along the outside edges every 2 feet and straight down the middle of the bed window a third row. Thoughts??????? In the past in my 3.5 x7 ft beds I have done 8 plants with other vegetables mixed in.

I can tell you what I did and will not do next year. I have a 4x4 and put a trellis down the middle. I have 5 plants on one side and 2 on the other. in the other two squares I have 4 cucumber vines. I am constantly trimming to keep up with the growth. I have lots of fruits but worry about how they will fair as it gets hot. The cuces are growing faster then expected and are about to take over the trellis on the one side. Here is a pick from a week and a half ago. I will take more tonight or this weekend to show the growth now. Everything is about double this size.
