Sunflowers?
Has anyone planted Sunflowers in their SFG before? I'm not seeing anything the book or website about planting them -- the seed packet says thin seedling to 12-18 inches, does that mean I can do one per square or do I have to expand to 1.5 squares per flower?
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Jennifer

Re: Sunflowers?
I planted just one in a square last year, it grew really tall, it was a lemon queen and it said they get 4-5 feet tall, I'm standing next to it, I had a old metal tower I used for a trellis to give it support.

Wow Josh - that looks a lot taller than 4-5 feet to me. Very cool. Thanks for the input!

Re: Sunflowers?
I've planted a few in my SFG this year - one per square. They are supposed to be excellent companions for cucumber, squash and melons.

Re: Sunflowers?
Wonderful pic, Josh. I'm planting sunflowers today in my ornamental bed - 1 per square in a line at the back of the bed. I think if I have enough seed might plant two or three among the vining plants in the SFG -- these are mammoth and should grow 6 - 8' tall.
