White Fungus
This morning I was taken back by a white fungus or something growing on top of the bare ground in one of my Mels Mix boxes. I was wondering if anyone might know something about it. I have posted two pictures of it at http://astonishedman.com/bud/ I sure don't want to let this get away. If you know what it is and have a rememdy let me know ASAP.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: White Fungus
That looks a lot like the later life cycle stages of a kind of slime mold called (and I wish I was making this up)..... dog vomit slime mold (Fuligo septica).

Slime mold is harmless...it won't hurt your plants...though it could be a sign your garden is much too wet.

Re: White Fungus
Not sure if that is what it is. For sure my garden is not too wet, and it is only in one small part, seperated from the rest. It is not thick and does not look like vomit, i.e., to me. If you will look closely at the smaller pic. it reminds me of scale. The plants that are in that particular area looks wilty also. You could be absolutly right, but it don't seem to fit the nominclature you sent. I will continue to investigate. Thank you so much for your input. By the way, how did you get that pic uploaded into the post?

Re: White Fungus
No problem...glad to try to help out.
How did I post that photo?
First I found a picture on the web I wanted to post here.....then I hovered over the picture and clicked the right mouse button....a menu should pop with a list of options....scroll down to Copy Image Location...left click....next come to the SFG forum open a post and left click the tiny icon of the photo (looks like an old Polaroid photo) located in the toolbar above....in box that opens up right click and then scoll down to Paste from the menu that is given to you and left click.....press the Ok button. The photo the should appear in your post.....you might wanna click Preview to make sure something did not go wrong.
If you want to post your own pic from your computer and not something from the web the process is a bit different....how to do that is explained in the thread here......

Re: White Fungus
That stuff shows up in my yard and garden periodically, I usually just leave it (don't want to disturb the spores) and it usually disintegrates in a few days. Fungus is every where and just part of life on our fabulous planet!

Re: White Fungus
I know this is an old topic, but does anyone know if this "stuff" is good/bad/indifferent for our gardens? I've got a lot of it popping up in our front area.......thanks for any info! I've checked on the internet, and all I can find is a description, but not the good/bad info ![Smile](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif)

Re: White Fungus
It's slime mold. It comes and goes and is harmless or classified as beneficial.
