Fungus! Empty Fungus!

Post  alijoefam5 8/27/2010, 3:32 pm

Hi guys- I'm in Houston. Hot-Hot-Hot. Along with the Hot is rain. I have fungus. Attacking all the plants. What are some natural ways to kill it. Do I spray every time it rains? (sometimes it rains daily) Once a week? Should I let rain fall on the plants and if it continues place a clear tarp on it for protection?

Also, Do I need to put the Lemon balm herb in a pot by itself or is it safe to put it next my tomato plant or cucumber plants in my SFG?

Love to hear you thoughts! Laughing

Found a pretty good resource for organic controls HERE.

Sulfur, milk and baking soda are some of the suggestions. I know garlic contains sulfur, too, FWIW.

Lemon balm is the mint I accidentally/ignorantly put in the ground about 8 years ago. Well, it ended up growing about five feet tall. I hacked it back to size, and put it in a pot, and from there it continued to air-seed. I destroyed it that summer, but I still have it growing in my yard (and my neighbors' yards) to this day. So, yes, for goodness' sake, put it in a pot! Shocked Smile Watch out it doesn't get out of the pot via a tap root through the drainage hole, and it can still air seed if you are incautious.

I would like to hear more on the fungus treatments, myself... I think my pumpkins have a touch of it.
