Yellow Squash leaves
So I planted a straight neck yellow squash in the bed last Wednesday. It was started from a seed in a seed starter thing. I started a zucchini at the same time. Well the zucchini I moved into a large container instead of putting it in a bed and it looks fantastic. The yellow squash on the other had just does not look great. It still has seed leaves and those are a really nice dark green, but all the true leaves that have grown are yellow with the veins of the leaves kind of green. I thought once it went into the bed it would green up, but not so as of now. I found one post on here that says this is an Iron deficiency? The mels mix compost has black kow, black hen, mushroom, and then one low grade manure compost. It's a brand new bed.... as this is my first year doing SQF gardening. All my other stuff looks great!! I will try to get a picture of it this evening...

My yellow squash did the exact same thing! The zucchini is doing well (for a change!) but I had to replant the yellow. The new plant is looking tons better and the seed is from the same packet - I think sometimes you just get a bad seed. I did hit it with some fish emulsion just to be on the safe side.

I have considered ripping it out and starting a new and direct sow it into the bed... the zucchini which was started at the same time looks great and is twice the size.

Re: Yellow Squash leaves
I just went out there and stuck a seed about 6" from the current plant... if it comes up and is better looking/healthy then I'll just yank the "yellow one".
