Interesting Bed Covers
Someone posted this on the SFGF Facebook page. LOVE the dome covers. Wonder if they're skylights?
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Re: Interesting Bed Covers
It all looks like pre made kit form stuff ...including the boxes . The lids would not be much good for any tall crops just small salad stuff or giving things a kick start.

Yep, you're right.
It got me thinking that those vinyl skylights might make a good "lid" for a cold frame though.

Re: Interesting Bed Covers
In building our house last year, the skylights were ordered and paid for when I asked the builders to make a change....
Hence there was a large sky lite left over afterwords.
I said what a great cover it would be for a cold frame, but 1500 bucks seemed a lot for a cold frame, so we put it into another room of the house.
The skylights would be way too heavy for me to lift, anyways.
Those pictures are interesting, I wonder if you can ask the site owner where they came from
How DO you copy pictures from the internet?
I am able to copy them and store them, but not able to post them here, because they are not actually jpegs??

I usually hover over the picture , right click and select picture ..it will store it in your files some where .. when you have it ready to go to the file you get a choice of name in the title block or the one that is generated by your PC . Put in the name you like or readily recognise and press enter
Then go and see if it is in your picture file , if it is , it's upto you how you take it from your computers file to get it here .
I use Photobucket and Photobucket will convert the new named file into Jpeg . I simply log on to my photobucket and click add new picture , select the from computer version and go to the otred pictures location then click on it and wait for it to up load . once I have my picture or pictures in the bucket I click save and go back to the file now in the photobucket .
Then it's a case of copy the thread friendly link ( the bottom link given ) to a thead on here .
It sounds daunting I know but in reality is fairly easy to do and even easier if you have done it once or twice . Unless you have a mild stroke like I did and lose your memory for a few months or so and have to start all over again learning how to use you computer.
I think there is " a how to tutorial " here on site to do it as well ...it's found on the home page ??

Re: Interesting Bed Covers
I am pretty computer literate, I think that last step is the key, I need to get photobucket...
On my PC I used to have photoshop, which as I recall is how I used to do it, but I have a mac now and have not done this in awhile.
thanks.

Plantoid, you seem to be the master of just about everything, you must have got your memory back pretty well, but too bad to have had to go through all of that.Unless you have a mild stroke like I did and lose your memory for a few months or so and have to start all over again learning how to use you computer.

Re: Interesting Bed Covers
Hey Kim,
Those are just the covers that come with the Lifetime raised bed kits that are widely available through Costco and Sam's Club.

Ah, now I see.
I'm glad someone else explained the photo thing. Using Safari with my MAC all I have to do it "right click" and it automatically gives me the option of adding the photo to iPhoto.

Re: Interesting Bed Covers
If a photo was posted a *.bmp it's nice to know you can convert it. Most things are posted are *.jpg files and when you "save picture as" (in IE) it should give you the original extension.
Sometimes I get *.bmp extensions. I try again, and it comes up with *.jpg. BMP files usually smaller and grainier (lower res).
Photoshop is cool bcuz you can increase the pixels on a photo.

Also on Safari it will let me "Save Image As" (it goes to Downloads) and then put it on here.
I just pulled this off my web site.

GWN,
On the Mac it's a breeze. Open the image in PREVIEW. Then choose "SAVE AS" and under the file format fly-out menu. choose JPG.
Hope this helps.
