March is here and if you haven't done so already, it's time to start finalizing those planting plans you've been putting off all winter Shocked Get those seeds! The best ones are out now and I see them almost everywhere . All the big box stores, your local garden centers and nurseries and even the local supermarkets have seed displays out. Hopefully you signed up and received some seed catalogs by now to order some of those less common items that aren't available locally. The time is now to get all your seed planting supplies ready. Your seed starting medium, lights, trays, covers, cups, heating pads etc.
Start getting your hoops, covers, and trellis supplies ready!

I have also noticed that most of the garden centers and big box stores are starting to stock up on gardening supplies. If you're starting new sfg beds, start stocking up now on Vermiculite, Peat Moss, and your 5 different composts so you're not frantically searching while everyone else is Very Happy
Here's a list of some of the seeds to start indoors in March. Again, this is for my local region. YMMV Like a Star @ heaven
Brassicas. Your rutabaga, turnip, kohlrabi, cabbage, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, and brussel sprout seeds should be started around March 8-23.
Eggplant, celery, leaks, and onions should be started now cyclops
Tomatoes should be started by March 20.
Peppers should also be started by March 20.
Lettuces can be started March 8-23.

P.S. Don't forget about Carrot Week!!

Hi Rooster...

Brussel sprouts, broccoli already working on their second leaves. Bell peppers starting to germinate.

Jalapenos, and sweet banana hasn't show signs yet.

Parsley and lettuce just as stubborn lol...

Have my tomato seeds all picked out and ready to plant tomorrow.

Still have herbs to get started. Thyme, rosemary, oregano, and some others. Sage is a perennial so don't have to worry about that!

Cindilou I'm soooo ready for spring!! We had another dusting of snow evening before last Embarassed We get a few nice days and everything turns to pot. On Monday and Tuesday, we are supposed to see the 60's, and I just hope we don't see the winds blowing in the 60-70 mph range like has been the case recently. Sounds like you've got a great start on your seedlings Western Mount/High Plains: Seed Starts 3170584802
My indoor herb garden is doing great, and I've been well supplied with Thyme, Parsley, Basil, and Oregano. The heirloom Cilantro I tried was kind of a pooper... Oh and Chives. I've been getting nice chives too!
I do have some pesky little fruit flies that are driving me nuts around my herbs though Evil or Very Mad

Come on Spring Cool

So ready for Spring but not here yet! It takes a long time for Spring to make it to Wyoming! I did check my asparagus bed for new shoots but nothing showing yet. Will order my seeds in the next couple of weeks. I won't be starting seeds indoors this year because of other plans but will buy plants as needed and direct plant my summer crop.

I will be setting up my sfg plots end of March as all of my previous gardening has been in rows. I decided to use 4x8x16 concrete blocks when I saw a picture of a sfg like that in the Zone 4 magazine. It should last forever! It will be raised to 16" and I will have the top 8" in MM. I'll post pixs once the boxes are up!
