High winds Tons of birds?
Hi there fellow farmer/gardeners
I just moved to the sacramento river delta and am starting a few vegetable garden plots, also would love to have one dedicated to flowers. Any suggestions on good flowers to plant in this area (30 min south of sac) Its incredibly windy here in the river delta and there are thousands of birds of al species. Any sugestions on wind proof bird protection. i was thinking netting and maybe some of those shiny ribbons, maybe an owl statue?
Would love sugestions on flowers good for cutting or just those that attract beneficials.
Love the potential of this site, real excited to have joined today!

Welcome Sarabernal!

I can't speak to your part of the country since I'm deep in the heart of the midwest, but I'm sure someone will come along with some tricks and tips. In the meantime, you might want to check out the County Extension Office for your area as they often have publications which list varieties which are known to do well in the area:

Are you planning to put some flowers in an SFG? There are members that plant flowers that are edibles and/or beneficials and I'm sure they will chime in.

Re: High winds Tons of birds?
Hi there
Apparently old CDs /dvds tied to a string and dangled keep the birds away.
I know radio stations that get tons of samplers are always looking for what to do with them.
