I'm new to this, still waiting on my book to be delivered, but wanted to know if I'm too late to start our SFG? I've been taking care of my neighbors' garden while they're out of town, and I'm anxious to start my own and to enjoy my own food! I've got the ingredients for Mel's Mix and will be making our box tomorrow.

What can you seasoned gardeners suggest to grow, for a first time newbie such as myself?

Thanks for your time!

I'm in Zone 7b and I'm fixing to plant some corn, beans, okra, cucumber and squash.
I got my seeds from:

You can look here for our zone for more things to plant right now. sunny

We are so glad you joined us. Please make sure you read the following thread before you actually mix up the ingredients for your Mel's Mix, because there are lots of helpful tips to get you started right.
HOW STRONG IS YOUR BACKBONE

If you know your Average First Fall Frost Date, that will help you determine what you can plant now. Many late summer crops just need to mature before the first fall frost. Things like lettuce, beans, cucumbers and summer squash. Some can take a light frost like broccoli and cauliflower, and others can grow well during the fall and take freezes too.

Again, Welcome and keep us posted on your progress. We I love you pictures and hope you will share yours.
