Newbie in Mn
The sun is finally coming out in this frozen tundra state. I am so excited to get to planting and being in the sun. My name is Brenda and I am doing 3 12x4 beds for the first time this year. I planned my gardens tonight and am going seed shopping this weekend. I will try to post pics as I move through this process. Feel free to criticize or guide me as you see fit. I have had regular gardens in the past but by the end of the season I am ready to rip my hair out, since I'm so used to pulling things (WEEDS!). My last years garden had more weeds than veggies. Sad. I really hope this is the answer for me. Do you think this plan will work?
Thanks,
Brenda

Brenda:
A most hardy welcome to the SFG family. It looks like you have a good plan for your garden. You will find that the forums are full of people from all walks of life and with gardening experiences from "never put a seed in the ground" to "been doing it for years". All have come to Square Foot Gardening because it is a better way to garden. No artificial fertilizers, no bug spray, a whole lot less weeds and less watering. Just a wonderful way to grow your veggies and flowers. Please ask questions if you need help. The answers are either in the, "ALL NEW Square Foot Gardening" book or here in the forums.
BTW, Where in Minnesota do you live? My wife was raised in Fergus Falls, Otter Tail county.
God Bless, Ward.

Re: Newbie in Mn
Hi Brenda,
I am in se MN; was it gorgeous yesterday or what? Now they say possible snow today?!?!
Ah well, that's MN for ya! Do things happen slowly here or what? Most of the garden centers are just starting to get the pallets full of "stuff" off the trucks - I can't find much for compost yet, but in due time.
I've only bought the lumber, peat and vermiculite for my beds (2 4x4) and still have lots of work to do.
How are you coming along? Your plan looks good....are you going to trllies the beans and peas?
