Unintentional Compost source.

Unintentional Compost source.
These pics are not for the faint of heart. They're pics of swiss chard that have not fared well in Ohio weather where the current temps are 20ish *F.
I really didn't expect them to do so badly. I had hopes that they'd be fine w/o protector covering - my kale did just fine all winter. Ah well. live and learn.
Oh for details - this swiss chard was started from seed in Feb/March 2010 and I had been harvesting from it all summer and fall.
as soon as i am able to get my back gate opened again (it's frozen shut) i will pull that plant (it's actually 2 squares of 4 plants each) and put it in the compost pile. it's very sad to see there all sickly looking.
