Hello From Mobile, Alabama
My name is Christine, mom of 5 with 5 grandchildren. Just wanted to say "HOWDY" to everyone here at SFG. This is my first year doing a garden and it will be a SFG. I remember gardening with my grandmother years ago. I hated it then but the memories are forever and wonderful. My thumb is not very green so hoping that mels mix will help it turn from brown to green by summers end.
Getting all my things gathered and hope to be planting by Sunday.
Looking forward to all the great advice here on the SFG forums.
Happy Gardening!!

Howdy Christine: I read somewhere (maybe here) that the difference between a brown thumb and a green thumb gardener is a little education and a little attention. If that is the case then this is the place to get both. We SFG'ers are nuts about gardening (my wife and I even have pecan trees). That being said the advise given to new gardeners is for them to get and read a copy of the "ALL NEW Square Foot Gardening" book. The book lays out the easiest way to garden ever. Most folks who quit gardening do so because of the hard back breaking work of hoe, hoe, hoeing all summer long. With Square Foot Gardening there is no need to be a "summer Santa Clause". After years of doing it the hard way along came the ALL NEW way to garden. So have fun and if you have questions please ask.
God Bless, Ward.

Thanks
Thanks for the warm welcome to the forums.
Its going to be challanging but I/WE (boyfriend that thinks I'm crazy) can do it. I have read the All New SFG book from cover to cover. I have marked pages that I know will be useful. I've gotta feeling that the book will be very well used time and time again.
Looking forward to reading and learning lots more here.
