Attracting Beneficial Insects Such As The Aphidius Wasp
I'm doing a two-part series on attracting beneficial insects. This was inspired by my decision not to apply any organic or inorganic pest control during this growing season, with the exception of organic BT, which I'll discuss in the second installment of the series.
I'm hoping to have part 2 finished this weekend. Here is both the introduction and part 1:

I expect to have Part 2 finished tomorrow. I should have broken this next video into two, making it a three-part series, but it's too late now.sanderson wrote:Got it done yet?Looking forward to your video(s).
The main thing is that I'm happy you, and others are looking forward to it!

Re: Attracting Beneficial Insects Such As The Aphidius Wasp
A good video on encouraging natural predators instead of using pesticides.
One of the best plants I have found to hang over the edge of my raised beds to attract predators is the Sweet Alyssum. The tiny sweet flowers attract Minute pirate bugs (who eat aphids, thrips, mites, psyllids, and insect eggs); Parasitic wasps (who lay eggs in aphids, beetles, flies, moths, sawflies, mealy bugs, and scales); and Hover flies (whose larva feed on aphids). At the same time the flowers attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. I love to see the beauty of them as they hang on the beds.

Thanks! I don't think I've ever seen a purple variety! That's beautiful! I've grown the white one to attract ladybugs, and I've read about the pirate bugs. I'm fortunate to have a few neighbors who embrace this mindset, and we all benefit from these efforts in our gardens. Glad you also embrace it!
I'll have to look into buying some of that purple as well as the white Sweet Alyssum seeds.

I have grown both. I should plant some this year in empty squares along with dwarf marigolds and petunias.
