Ok, thanks. I buy the bundles of started onions and plant those (individually ) for "green onions". Is it ok to plant several together or individually?

I start the onions from seed, and then transplant them into the raised bed. I bunch 3 or 4 seedlings together to plant in the dibbler hole, with 16 planted per square. When we need some green onions for dinner, I just pull them by the bunch

I grew them for the first time last year. They were called "Heshiko". I direct sowed seeds into my Maryland garden in mid March, and spaced them about 2" apart. They were an easy vegetable to grow.

Since the Heshiko is a Japanese Bunching Onion, they are probably closely related to the Nebuka Evergreen Bunching onion that I grow. I start them indoors, about 8 weeks early in order to get a quicker harvest when they are planted out in the beds. I have, though, direct sowed the seeds in the fall and let them overwinter in the bed after they have developed a little growth - they really take off when the soil warms in the spring.
