The SFG journey-vermicomposting the seed bed
I decided to try something different with my fall garden since I'm starting early under the greenhouse shade cloth. If it doesn't bring good results, I still have time to reseed. I'm filling the seed holes with vermicompost from my vermicomposting buckets that I have embedded within the garden beds. I would like to see how well the seedling come out and the effects on plant growth, if any.

That is an interesting experiment. I have used worm castings in holes for larger seeds, like corn and squash, before putting the seeds in the hole to give the seeds an extra boost when they germinate, and they have always done great. I have also used worm castings to put in the holes of transplants, such as tomatoes and peppers to feed their roots. Looking forward to seeing your updates on the results.

Recently saw this video on the 20 days of vermicomposting, and thought you might like watching it if you haven't seen it before. It is 20 days condensed to 2 minutes in the life of vermicomposting.

Yes it is. Last evening I was digging holes with the bulb planter to put some new Kale plants in one bed and every time I emptied the bulb planter there were 4 or 5 earthworms in the soil. They love that compost!
