Re: Virtual Flyovers - 2017
Thanks for the flyovers TD! I'm still pretty amazed by the software you use.
I picked out the mesa in several of the shots. We haven't gone up it yet, but hope to this coming summer. We have done the Colorado National Monument and it's spectacular.
I haven't spent much time on the western slope. It's produce and wine country. Palisade peaches and Olathe corn. It's a beautiful area. My daughter also goes to school at Colorado Mesa University. She loves it there. According to her, there's less wind and more heat
Thanks again TD. Thanks for the Blue Angels bit also!

Somehow I missed the night flight. I have to say, that's my favorite!

The night flight was a nice treat!
TD, you can go back to my Nevada-Utah-Arizona trip Oct 2015 and pick up where you left off. ?? https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t20010-virtual-roadtrip-of-the-desert-and-old-west

I never knew that CO was so flat! Except for the mountains it could be south FL.

CC ... don't believe everything you see in the flight simulator. Maybe Rooster can give us an idea of how flat things are east of the Rockies.CapeCoddess wrote:I never knew that CO was so flat! Except for the mountains it could be south FL.

Sanderson ... I'll see what I can do about finding where I landed the last time on your trip so that I can pick up from there. I'm also not sure I have your instructions as to where you went exactly. I'll check the thread that I did for your trip.
Update ... It looks like I can get the route of your trip from your thread about the trip.

Colorado is pretty flat, except for the mountains of course. Not quite as flat as the Cape, but pretty darn flat! Our elevation is still high here in the 'flat land'. Loveland, CO sits at about 4,980...give or take a few feet. We also have a very dry climate. We don't have the thick, lush growth that a lot of the south and east have. If that makes sense.

I decided to take a look at the Oroville Dam. My software does not show the spillway.

FWIW and totally off topic from SFG ... I just added a 40 inch LCD TV as the main (upper) monitor for my flight simulator.

Can you do a flight of Route 66 starting at Midway in CHI and flying to Santa Monica Municipal?
Get your kicks at altitude. It's the only way other than hiking to traverse La Bajada Hill in NM.

I could but it would be a long flight.
It can be done but would take a long time. I tried Chicago Midway to St. Louis as shown in the slideshow at the following link. The flight started at dawn. I followed I-55 which I believe is the more recent highway that parallels Rout 66. I've actually driven along Route 66 in this area a few years ago.TNGeezer wrote:Can you do a flight of Route 66 starting at Midway in CHI and flying to Santa Monica Municipal?

On the floor on my own power--no teeth lost.
That is an amazing simulator.
I am glad to see that there are other Mother Roaders here.
You go through St. Louie, Joplin, Missouri, Oklahoma City looks my pretty, you'll see Amarillo, Gallup, New Mexico, Flagstaff, Arizona, don't forget Winona, Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino
Come get hip to this timely tip, when you take that California trip,
Get your kicks on Trolley Driver's Flight Simulator.
