Hi, Honey. I'm home...

Hi everyone.  Sorry to have been missing the last few days.  Had a business trip to Fairfax, VA.

The tulips, daffy-dills, and their version of redbuds are in full bloom in VA, along with the dogwoods.  The redbuds up there are more of a beautiful lavender.  It was rather cool, but mostly sunny.

We're very glad to be home.  Our truck broke down as soon as we arrived at the hotel and had to be towed to the local dealer.  Thank goodness for our super-duper, forever plus two weeks and an ice-cream cone warranty.  It turned out to be the fuel pump.  They had to bring in one from Cleveland, OH.  So we ended up staying an extra day.

But we got to go to the Air & Space Museum at Dulles Airport again.  And I got thru the 3 days of very intense training I had.  Ended up with a promotion, which sounds kind of strange since we own our own business.  But I am now authorized to teach at a higher level than I could before.

I also got to have dinner with my cousin & her hubby.  They're in Baltimore & drove down to see us.

All in all, a successful trip.  But REALLY glad to be back.  Haven't even had a chance to check the garden yet.  It was 11:30 when we got home last night & it's been raining most of the day.

Marie, as a dedicated gardener, I thought you would be out with your flashlight.

Nice to know you can now teach at a higher level, and good for your business as well.

In some ways it was good that your truck broke down the very first day as it gave you more time to get it repaired and you only had to stay an extra day.  Can you imagine   if it had been the last day?

LOL.  Just too tired.  With vertigo issues, travel exhausts me.  And I really used to like road trips.

Welcome home. You had such good luck regarding having your fuel pump fail out of state.

At least it got us to the hotel & didn't dump us in the middle of nowhere...

We were volunteering at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center for GA Dept of Nat'l Resources, doing a women's conference.  We had 65 women in for the weekend.  Lots of fun, but very tiring.  GREAT group, though!

Happy that you are home safe and sound. 

It must be something about Virginia, because on a trip to DC in the past, we had a car break down and catch fire in Warrenton and had to take a bus the rest of the way and then fly back without a car.

I had vertigo problems for years, and the mainstream medical "gurus" couldn't do anything to help me other than to diagnos Meniere's Syndrome and prescribe junk that knocked me out.

Only when I changed my diet and moved from a downstairs apartment unit that was as moldy as a basement to an upstairs end unit did it ever improve. 

After marriage and moving into an old house, the vertigo returned, and we discovered that we had stachybotrys mold throughout the house.  We almost gutted the entire house to get rid of it, and then I reacted to the paint and other building products.  We had to move out of the house for two months before I could return without issues.

When my chemical sensitivities worsened, it was only then that I was told by one angelic nurse to call Dr. C Orian Truss in Birmingham, AL, because she knew my problem was an overgrowth of candida.

Two years as a patient of Dr. Truss ended my vertigo and 90% of my chemical sensitivities.  May he rest in peace.

Razed Bed - Oh MY...!  Well at least you found out what it was.  I'm really surprised my vertigo's not going wild today...  Drove over to Charlie Elliott on Thurs am, worked all day from Thursday till yesterday about 11.  I drove the camper home (1-1/2 hours and for the first time!) and then drove 2 hours to have dinner w/ my mom & "uncle" Bob (an uncle's brother), then drove 2 hours home.

I'm tired but not dizzy.  I can work with that. 

Glad you had a good warranty and made it back safe and sound. Car problems can be so frustrating and expose how precarious our feelings of independence and self-sufficiency are.

Stachy is an interesting mold.  It's outdoors all the time (nature), and spores can be detected indoors through air sampling.  (We track in all kinds of things.)  However, when there is a water problem inside the house and it takes hold, it can really affect the health of the residents.  The symptoms are vague and confounding, but real, and hard to properly diagnose the cause.  Only when the source is removed, or the person moves to a clean, dry residence, will the symptoms improve.  For some, they are forever sensitized to Stachy.  http://www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/IAQ/Documents/MIMH_2012-07-05.pdf

General rules:  "A wet house is an unhealthy house"  A permissible exposure limit (PEL) for mold is hard to establish - there is a higher count in Florida homes than SW desert homes.   "Testing is a waste of money.  If you smell it or see it, it's there."  Air testing can be used as a base line to compare with outdoor counts and to compare to when the work done.
