Thank you! he's a little sweetie pie, and a picky eater, but LOVES these! We blanched and froze them. GREAT snack. Just pop in microwave for a minute to thaw and eat. I THINK these were planted only 8 weeks ago!! Crazy good growth. These were from seeds we kept from last year, and every seed grew

Zooie - that is a hugh pile. I tried to grow them again this year but something ate every single plant except one.
What variety did you grow.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
YOLOS...they're just soy beans from Home Depot. Welpp...that's what we planted last year, and then kept seeds. These were from 30 seeds from the ones we kept last year. They grew soooo well and produced heavily. Might try and get in another round!!yolos wrote:Zooie - that is a hugh pile. My first pepper!!! Why? the sweet banana gave me one, then got eaten by a critter...was gonna pull it, but left it accompanied by a random Bonnie from Walmart, the purple one. the banana has a flower on it, so we will see....
And tons of cherry tomatoes, OMG, that little solo plant has just been the bomb! Sungold I believe....heavy and reliable producer, and the maters are like sugar...it is Sunsugar.
What I HAVE to eat today are 2 halves of Brandywine that were invaded by bugs after cracking...cut the bad part off, composted it, and am eating the other halves.
And have some KY Wonder beans, and a couple patty pans. Not tonight! Have teriyaki chicken thighs on the grill with leftover cheesy potatoes and the Franken-brandywines!

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Fresh steamed New Zealand spinach (thanks Audrey). No sand, no dirt, no bugs! Next year I'm going to go crazy with it.
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Steamed carrots and green beans with fresh dill; roast turkey breast with sage, lemon, wine, garlic, and onion sauce. (The sage is home-grown.)
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
We picked about 16 green, red, and orange bell peppers and will make stuffed peppers to freeze for eating this winter. We did about 50 earlier from the first pepper crop. The peppers are starting to fruit again after the weird hot/cool weather and hoping for plenty more fresh and enough for freezing. Hope all is well with all of you.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
We have a big butter nut squash in the oven and some yard long beans being smothered down with some onions a friend gave us and peppers and such we grew. The only thing we paid for is the pork steaks that were on sale .89/lb. That and fresh salad greens 4 of us will fiest for around 1$ each. None will know they are eating a cheap meal but me.
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Yum, Cappy! Not cheap, just frugal! And served with love, too, I bet!

Made gluten free linguine with broccoli and pesto from basil from our upper garden, peas and herbs and prosciutto. Lots of Romano cheese.
Sanderson, you make New Zealand spinach sound good. Maybe we'll try that again. My young ones, 40 years ago, would sit around the whiskey barrel that was planted with that other stuff and eat the leaves.

Kauairosina I forgot you are gluten free also. Peggy is a celiac so every thing we cook is gluten free Not by choice by requirement
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
My breakfast today is a Pizza Pile.
Start with a frozen pizza - mine happens to be gluten and dairy free.
Pile it up with the mornings harvest.
Cook.
I added shredded kale, garlic, peppers, chives, Roman tomato and purple basil.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
I'm sorry I didn't answer this sooner - haven't visited the site much. They are Lemon Boys, my DH's favorite. They are good, and prolific (I started them from seed), not too full of seed and juice (good texture). I don't find them as flavorful as some of the others (heirlooms) but will always have them in my garden. Plus, they're pretty!CapeCoddess wrote:Kathy, what are those yellow ones called? Oh Nan. I did not intend to mislead you. I purchase the gluten free linguine
Will have to look up the name. It is a new one to me, made of potato and quinoa I think. Ah ha! quinoa is not in the spell check. Too new I guess.
