Re: Senseless Banter...
Most of the ideas have been discussed on this Forum. The rose in the potato looks really interesting!

My "'Tater" story
I read about this idea... I think a lot of funny stories start like that, kind of like "Hey, guys watch this..". Anyway, there's this idea to plant potatoes in a "box", then wait for the potato plants to grow to about 8 inches tall, then raise the bed and fill in around the potato plants leaving about 2 inches of plant, repeat. Like growing potatoes in a barrel, or a type of "vertical" gardening for potatoes. You get the idea.
So, I make my first box, put my seed potatoes in the bottom and then cover with "mulch". More like straw and some composted material, but that's another story. Anyway, some of the other stuff I planted had already sprouted, but I was still waiting anxiously for my potatoes to appear. FINALLY they appeared, 3 little sprouts broke through the top. I proudly took my wife and "little helper" (daughter) outside to show off my potato sprouts. Look what I did, isn't that awesome! A few days later I'm looking at them and I I'm thinking... I'm not sure those are potatoes, but they have to be, that's the only thing I planted in there, but they look like.... well, I'm not really sure what a potato sprout looks like. A little later something else started poking through the surface... ooooohhhh... I wonder if that is a tater, if so what are those other things? They kind of look like my cucumbers do, just bigger.... DOH!!!!! Pumpkin Taters!! I put pumpkins from last year in the compost pile, there's pumpkin seeds in the compost!
So, next time I had my little helper in the garden I had to explain how her daddy was an idiot and that those weren't Taters', although I hope having the pumpkins in there may encourage the Taters to grow to Pumpkin size, we can always hope.
It's not all bad, as part of pulling the old "taters" out, I carefully dug down and got the sprout and seed out in one piece and then I was able to show my daughter how the sprout comes out of the seed and grows up to the surface.
Still, I'm an idiot, but you can call me Tater.

A heirloom. A heirloom is something passed down within a family for several generations
An heirloom.
A honest person.
Would the choice be better put as " A person ..... who is honest is etc etc. "
Or
John says he is honest .......... leaving out the word person .
To my surprise, some people were taught to use 'an' when a 'h' sounds like a vowel.
To me you simply change the word string so as to avoid the" an and a " problem and then stick to " an for a vowel word
I seem to remember having it knocked into my thick skull that :-
You stick to " an for a vowel word ,save for few times when the " h " or consonant that starts the word is silent and is followed by a vowel .

Well shucks! Since you speak 'real' English, I was hoping you had the 'real' answer!
Re: Senseless Banter...
Our urine contains significant levels of nitrogen, as well as phosphorous and potassium (typically an N-P-K ratio around 11 – 1 – 2.5, similar to commercial fertilizers).

Re: Senseless Banter...
Probably. I eyeball it but regular feedings are approximately a quart in a 5 gal bucket of 3-4 gal of water. And if the plants are is great need, 1 to 10 ratio.

My grandson adds urine to his compost. Probably why nitrogen was high in test.

Yes, I add it to the compost as well since I don't use manure. I also fertilize the perennial gardens with it and have great flowers. The SFG doesn't really need it hardly ever and I noticed that if I over do it there, the veggies can attract aphids.kauairosina wrote:My grandson adds urine to his compost. Re: Senseless Banter...
Once again, I will point out that if you are on any meds, don't do this! You'll just be adding meds to your compost or garden.
Re: Senseless Banter...
That sounds like adding mine could be good then , as it should keep the soil open , light & free from disease and rats .AtlantaMarie wrote:Once again, I will point out that if you are on any meds, don't do this! You'll just be adding meds to your compost or garden.

Actually, GG, that's NOT a bad idea! I like it, I like it!

Donnainzone10's new signature:
"Beware the Apostrolypse!"
Cute! That's my new word of the day. When I googled it, I found this definition example:
"The suffocation of all living organisim's by the relentles's rain of gratuitou's apostrophe's."
