introducing myself

hello fellow gardeners!

i have been gardening for about 10 years only but i used to help my dad with his organic gardening way back in the early 70's, before organic gardening was cool! Smile

so, what specifically brings me here? i have a volunteer mystery melon in my garden. i would love to know what it is of course, but i also wonder how to know when it's ripe. i can post a picture i just took if i can figure it out! any suggestions?
