Mid-At: Are you planting for fall?
Are you going to plant a fall garden?
If so what are you going to plant?
When are you going to plant?
From transplant or seed?

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Re: Mid-At: Are you planting for fall?
This has been a great year for direct seeding a fall garden for me. The typical hot and dry August weather usually makes it difficult to keep the seeds wet (i work during the day). But this year has been wet and all of my seeds sprouted! I have peas, chard, beans, carrots.

In between the rain storms I finished by fall garden today. I started a week ago and the radishes and broccoli are sprouting already. When I look at the list, now I know why it took so much work.
Radishes (Cherry Belle and French Breakfast) - 4 squares - 2 of each kind.
Carrots - 2 squares
Bush beans (yellow - Goldrush) 2 squares
Spinach (Harmony hybrid) 2 squares
Snap peas 2 squares
Cauliflower 2 squares
Broccoli 4 squares
Beets 1 square -- really a fill in of harvested areas
Turnips - 1 square fill in in of harvested areas
Potatoes - 1 square

Yes, I was finally able to plant my fall garden yesterday of:
Sugar and Super Sugar Snap Peas, 4 kinds of lettuce - Black Seeded Simpson,
Buttercrunch, Red Fire and Parris Island Cos, and two kinds of carrots - Scarlet
Nantes and Short n Sweet.
I am hoping for the best!

I've started a few rounds of broccoli seeds, as well as some spinach, lettuce, green onions, and beets. Found some clearance seeds at local drug stores - 75% off Unfortunately no kale to be found anywhere though.
