Today was the first 2 strawberries. Had to eat them real slow. It was worth it and they were perfect.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Since May 27 we've eaten a gallon of strawberries from one ground level bed. Each picking results in about a quart to a quart and 1/2. No where near finished either Instead of one 4 by 4 bed I may need to have two. If my table top hadn't died over the winter, I'd be eating these things 3 times a day with every meal.

I think you just described my strawberry dream scenario!
All my plants but one look very healthy, but suddenly stopped producing berries. That's okay, though. They were freebies and there's still time!
Today I picked a little lettuce and am about to pick my first snap peas this year to add to a salad. Woo hoo! I'm crazy for those things!

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Had red cabbage for dinner. Only planted 4 and need to get the other 3 harvested soon
Yesterday was stir fry with peppers frozen from last year, huge bok choy, sugar snap peas and purchased celery and onions. Lunch was a big mixed lettuce, spinach, and onion tops salad.
Strawberries a finished.

We are lucky to get one or two
strawberries a day from our 4*8 raised bed. Some kind of little beetle thing is gnawing at their tips. We had thought slugs but this guy showed up.

Do peppers freeze well? Texture-wise especially? I've got 12 plants this year and may wind up with some to spare, if things go well.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
They do fair. They actually work better in soups and spaghetti sauce than as a stir fry, but it was all I had. Just had to be careful not to over cook. My son freezes his excess super hot peppers to use to make pepper jelly and hot sauce during the cold months.Marc Iverson wrote:walshevak wrote:

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
X2 my strawberry dream too. I hope to have more plants next year. I've been picking lots of yellow zukes, a few cukes & cherry toms. I've been freezing tomatillos. We made some chili verde at work today with pork shoulder cooked in a crock pot overnite. Costco has these tortillas you cook yourself, cheese, sour cream & chili verde sauce YUM!!! I'm storing tomatillos for the winter. Other than that grilled zukes, zuke in eggs, zukes, zukes...enough zukes already!! I planted too many this year LOL!Marc Iverson wrote:llama momma wrote:Since May 27 we've eaten a gallon of strawberries from one ground level bed. People around here grow so many zucchini that strangers find them slipped in through their open car windows while they're gone.

some kind of frilly cabbage blossoms
to go in my ox tail soup tonight. Pulled up an ox heart carrot next to them by mistake. Cut in quarters for tastings. Gonna go out and get more greens for that soup later but it's raining right now.

Here is the latest harvest from the garden: Purple pole beans, Cucumbers, Cherry tomatoes, Bell and Banana peppers. Sadly I lost the Zucchini and Squash to cut worms I think as something ate the stalks of the plants.

Despite your losses, your veggies in the above pic look wonderful.
Today made garlic scape hummus that went with garden lettuce. This morning had a strawberry banana smoothie.
