Beginning to harvest
Today's little haul - the quinalt strawberries didn't make it into the house..
clockwise starting w/beets, parsley, yellow crookneck squash, "bushy" variety of Russian cukes, baby zucchini(I couldn't wait any longer), basil, and swiss chard. Apple mint leaves went straight from the faucet to the freezer.

ALRIGHT! Nice haul and now I will have to drool as you bring in the goodies while mine is starting to wind down.
I really look forward to seeing yours in the coming days.

Ooooo...well done, LM.
I'm still waiting on my cucs, zucs & beets....I think they're on the slow boat with this crazy weather we've had here.
Enjoy!

Re: Beginning to harvest
Bob, I've enjoyed so much watching your phenom success. Hope my results come somewhat close to yours. I'm in awe of people who do canning. I have the supplies so I hope to tackle it this year. You and Rooster put me to shame, I must get on board and learn this stuff without fearing it.
Sanderson, Thanks a bunch, I appreciate it. Love how we all support each other.
CCod- yours will be ready and all will be good I hope. At least its the weather that held you up, for me it was partly weather and partly personal mismanagement
Three years at this stuff and I don't know when I'll ever get to take off my newbie hat!

Re: Beginning to harvest
I love apple mint, don't you? I could easily eat a fistful everyday. I drink a lot of coffee and put it in my coffee and tea.
Your swiss chard looks like big sweet basil leaves.

Marc
I use apple mint in my ice tea and enjoy it very much, I have spearmint too. Freeze both and use it year round for tea. You put it in your Coffee? Mmm, I'll have to try that.
In the picture, the 2 small leaves of swiss chard is right above the basil. It's from the Giant Fordhook variety of chard which typically grows huge for me but is currently shaded by squash leaves growing next to it.

Beautiful!! I can't say which is my favorite, I enjoy all of those. You picked a real harvest. I picked what I'll call a fake harvest! ![rofl](/users/2912/12/27/03/smiles/889526.gif)
You are weeks ahead of me, congratulations and enjoy.

I found my 'Giant Fordhook' shaded by knohlrabi earlier but is taking off now. Note to self; don't shade the chard!
